A Newborn Photographer's Dream Session
Tips for a streamlined newborn session
For five years we have had the privilege of being family's newborn photographers. While we currently hold most of our newborn sessions in our studio near Radcliff, we also offer in home sessions. Today, we are sharing some ideas to help prepare for your newborn photographer's visit to our studio.
The planning Stage
Communicate Early
We love it when our expectant mothers contact us to pre-book their newborn sessions. It allows us to create a truly unique newborn session catered to their interests and style. Sometimes we need to purchase items not found in Elizabethtown, Ky so we will special order props and backgrounds just for their session! We collaborate with other professional newborn photographers to bring you the most current newborn photography trends to you. We understand these babies don't always arrive when they are due, which is why we try to keep a flexible schedule for our newborn sessions. We have a simple form at www.joshastor.com/contact available to makes pre- registering very simple. While you are waiting for the baby's arrival, now is a great time to plan and purchase any outfits for the family pictures. we recommend solid and dark clothes to create a timeless professional portrait.
Once the Baby Arrives
Planning your appointment
We recommend booking you newborn session within the first two weeks of their life. Most newborn babies do best in the morning and right after a feeding. Our studio is located in Vine Grove, KY. If you are nearby, feel free to nurse in the convenience of your home. The drive to the studio tends to make the baby even more sleepy. (yay!) If you are not close by, feel free to do your feeding in our studio. We are 15 minutes away from E-town, and 40 minutes away from Hodgenville, KY. Simply send us a text or a phone call and we'll set your appointment all up!
The Day of the Session
As your photographer, we recommend bringing your baby in a button up sleeper. We will be wrapping the baby throughout the session and from our experience makes the changing process easier. The room will be very warm to make the baby as comfortable as possible. We also play background sounds to help relax the baby. Our staff has been trained on professional newborn safety. Take this time to sit back, relax, and let us capture your new baby's first portraits. The goal is to have a variety of beautiful images for you to choose from, so we will try a variety of poses and angles.
Full Disclosure
Okay, so while all of these little tips are nice and do help in the overall newborn session experience, sometimes things just don't go according to plan. If your baby is a little fussy, don't worry, it will all work out. This little didn't really sleep until the very end, but we love all of the images we captured, and hope you do too!
